The Aeneid, by Vergil
The Christian Imagination, ed. by Leland Ryken
Don't Waste Your Life, by John Piper
Night, by Elie Wiesel
Daniel Derronda, by George Eliot
Random thoughts on that which I love most about being a teacher:
...interaction with believing college students
...the encouragement of my peers
...reading
...being an influence, hopefully for the better
...seeing those "AHA!" moments in my students
...coupons to Borders (yeah, books!!!)
Random thoughts on that which I hate most about being a teacher:
...as soon as I finish grading a stack of papers, another one is waiting for me
...that after grading hundreds of papers, my motivation for personal reading drains to almost nothing
...that I cannot always communicate as effectively as I would like
...that some of my students have no desire to look at me as a human being
...my lack of experience limiting career possibilities

In an unexpecte twist of providence, I was approached two days ago by Dr. Harris and Dr. Kauffman here at BBC. For some reason, guys at this school are no longer auditioning for plays or music groups like that used to do, and the music department was in a somewhat desperate need for singers. One day later, I happily entered the literal circle of the Chamber Singers again. This will be my fourth full year as an official member, and I am very much looking forward to it (although I never was the oldest member of the group as I am now)...
